Disease-informed neural networks for avian influenza prediction

Nickson Golooba combines neural networks with epidemiological structure to forecast the spread of avian influenza.

Nickson Golooba has published a new paper in computational epidemiology, “Deep neural networks with application in predicting the spread of avian influenza through disease-informed neural networks”, written with Prof. Woldegerima, who mentored the work, and Huaiping Zhu.

The work combines machine learning with epidemiological knowledge to improve disease forecasting. It builds the principles of mathematical epidemiology into neural network architectures that model the spread of infectious disease.

Congratulations to Nickson on this publication.
